Riding on an impressive performance from their bowlers, Delhi managed to sneak into the Vijay Hazare Trophy final beating Jharkhand by a small margin of two wickets in Bengaluru. While chasing a below-par target of 200 runs, the Gautam Gambhir-led side was in trouble having lost 8 wickets for 149 runs but bowlers Pawan Negi and Navdeep Saini took their team home with two balls to spare. Delighted by the win, Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) President and IndiaTV Chairman Rajat Sharma congratulated the team for the stupendous win on Twitter.

He also expressed his desire for the coveted trophy while congratulating the skipper Gambhir for leading the side successfully.

"Congratulations Delhi cricket team on reaching the final of #VijayHazareTrophy We want the Cup! Special thanks to Delhi captain @GautamGambhir @delhi_cricket," he wrote.

Saini was adjudged the Player of the Match for his four wickets during Jharkhand's innings followed by his gritty unbeaten 13 runs which helped Delhi cross the finish line. Batsman Nitish Rana and Negi both struck 39 runs while the skipper Gambhir departed after making just 27 runs. Apart from Saini, Kulwant Khejroliya picked up a couple of wickets to dent the Jharkhand innings. For the latter, Varun Aaron was fiery with the new ball picking two wickets while Anand Singh was the most prolific bagging three scalps.

The big names Ishan Kishan and Saurabh Tiwary, however, failed to make an impact for their home side as they contributed a total of six runs with the former being dismissed for a duck.

Delhi will meet Mumbai in the final to be played on October 20 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
