Australia's T20 sensation Chris Lynn suffered a shoulder injury when he misjudged a dive during the T20I tri-series final against New Zealand at the Eden Park, Auckland on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old Queensland batsman immediately left the field and underwent medical scans.
In the ninth over of New Zealand's innings, Lynn threw himself to his right in an attempt to save a boundary off Ross Taylor. In this attempt, he hurt himself badly and was seen clutching his right shoulder tightly.
The support staff took the cricketer off the field and revealed later that the right-handed batsman has dislocated his shoulder and will not travel to Dubai for the upcoming Pakistan Super League.
"Chris dislocated his right shoulder after landing awkwardly on it when fielding the ball," physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said as quoted by cricket.com.au.
"His shoulder was able to be put back into place on the ground and he was consequently sent for X-Rays which revealed no major bone injury.
"At this stage, Chris will not travel to Dubai for the Pakistan Super League. He will return to Brisbane to undergo further scans and assessment and from there we will have a better understanding of the ongoing management, along with the return to play timeframes," he added.
During the rain interruption, following which Australia won the match by 19 runs via D/L method, Lynn was spotted sporting a shoulder brace.
The top-order batsman, who is a prominent name in T20 leagues worldwide, has suffered various injuries in the past. In the Indian Premier League last year, representing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), he had injured his left shoulder and missed the majority of the season.
For the upcoming 11th season of the cash-rich league, KKR broke their bank to secure the services of Lynn when they bought him for a whopping price of Rs 9.6 crores.
Recently, Lynn said he is looking forward to captain the two-time champions in the IPL 2018. "I'd love to, I'd jump at the opportunity," he said. (Read full story)
