West Indian opener Chris Gayle has equalled the record of most number of sixes in international cricket previously held by charismatic Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi. In the third and final ODI against Bangladesh on Saturday, Gayle hit five sixes to raise his six-tally to 476 - the mark previously set by Afridi.
The Jamaican is currently one of the most fearsome batsmen in limited-overs cricket and is often known to hit sixes at will against pace or spin. He has also completed this milestone in fewer matches (443) than the Pakistan all-rounder (524).
Gayle is however certain to surpass the tally and make the record solely his own when he takes the field against Bangladesh in the three-match T20I series starting on August 1.
