Team India orthodox-spinner Axar Patel is set to play six County Championship division 2 games for Durham and is the fifth Indian to feature in the competition this season after skipper Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara and Varun Aaron recently signed as well.
The left-arm spinner signed a six-match deal with Durham where he will make his debut against Glamorgan on August 19 and will face Northamptonshire, Sussex, Middlesex, Leicester and Warwickshire.
Axar has become an integral part of Team India's squads in the limited overs format and plays third-wheel to Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal. The all-rounder would be keen on establishing himself in the Test side.
The 24-year old is currently playing for Kings XI Punjab and was the first player to be retained by the franchise in the 2018 IPL auctions. Axar has so far played 60 IPL matches where he has collected 59 wickets with a best figure of 21/4. Before sporting the red and white cramp, Axar was a part of Mumbai Indians as well.
Surprisingly, the 24-year old is quite handy with the bat as well whenever the opportunity is provided to the youngster.
