With tennis professionals battling it out in extremely hot weather at the Melbourne Park, Australian Open on Monday witnessed the presence of national cricket captain Steve Smith. The cricketer was enjoying the game with his fiancee Dani Willis, though a mistake on social media made him a victim of trolling.
"Great night out at the @AustralianOpen with @dani_willis we both absolutely love our tennis! Thanks @CraigTiley for having us. What a belter of a match!" Smith tweeted along with a picture, in which the pair was seen posing for a selfie.
Mistakenly, the Australian batsman tagged the wrong woman instead of his fiancee. Fans noticed the blunder quickly and started the thread of trolling.
Steve Smith tags the wrong woman
"I guess you tagged wrong girl Steveee," a user replied on his tweet.
"See who he tagged in the tweet ... #AwayGame #Awkward @sand_shifter," another user joined in.
A fan went on to say: "You tagged wrong girl Steve. Get ready for some punishment from your fiance. I think you are not over from series loose."
"Mate did you realise that you have mentioned wrong Dani Wills in your tweet. If you were an Indian, you would be goner," another user said.
Some of the Twitteratis compared Smith's mistake with the brain fade controversy that happened to Smith in India last year.
"Brain fade at its best @DaniWillis91," a netizen said.
Another one joined in: "Again a brainfade moment by tagging the wrong person!"
In a Test match between India and Australia in Bengaluru in March 2017, Smith was caught looking in the dressing room balcony for advice on a DRS appeal against his dismissal. While Kohli claimed Smith had been involved in cheating, the latter, in his defence said that it was a brain fade moment for him.
Besides this, Smith also shared a photograph with Swizz tennis star Roger Federer, who defeated Hungarian Márton Fucsovics 6-4, 7-6, 6-2 in the Round of 16 on Monday.
"Great to see @rogerfederer again. Good luck for the remainder of the @AustralianOpen #champion," he tweeted.
