Port of Spain: South Africa’s Hashim Amla and West Indies’ Dwayne Bravo set a new world record for a fifth-wicket stand in T20 cricket of 150 runs while playing for the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Carribean Premier League on Friday. 

In the league match against the Barbados Tridents at Queen’s Park Oval, the duo added 150 runs for the fifth wicket in just 92 runs thereby leading their team to victory. 

Hashim Amla smashed 81 runs off just 54 deliveries. He scored his half century in 42 balls. 

On the other end, Bravo also showcased a spectacular batting performance hitting an unbeaten 66 runs that included four sixes. 

With Trinbago Knight Riders struggling at one point, the two led their team to a challenging total of 170 for 5 off their 20 overs. 

Trinidad later restricted Barbados to 159-8 thereby thereby registering an 11-run win. 

The previous record for a fifth-wicket partnership in T20 cricket was 149 set by Yogesh Takawale and Sairaj Bahutule in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2007.
