After reinforcing its position as the top-ranked team in Test cricket by completing a rare 3-0 series whitewash in Sri Lanka, the Indian team on Tuesday celebrated the country's 71st Independence Day at Kandy.
Captain Virat Kohli, with coach Ravi Shastri standing next to him, unfurled the national flag amid applauds from the other team members. It was followed by the National Anthem.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a video of the Independence Day celebrations on its Twitter page.
Earlier on Monday, India thrashed Sri Lanka by an innings and 171 runs in the third Test to complete their historic whitewash.
India were dominant throughout the series, winning the first two matches by 304 runs and an innings and 53 runs.
The visitors will now play a five-match ODI series and a lone T20I vs Sri Lanka with the first match on August 20 in Pallekele.
