AB de Villiers to be seen back in T20 mode, signs for Pakistan Super League 2019

The Royal Bangalore Challengers' star brings 11 years of IPL experience, along with a season (2016)  at the Caribbean Premier League for Barbados Tridents.

Former South Africa captain AB de Villiers will be seen in action once again as the explosive and charismatic batsman has signed up for Pakistan's domestic T20 league on Friday (Sept 7). He will be one of the star attractions in the 2019 Pakistan Super League players draft this season. 

In a video, the 34-year old announced that he his signing for the 2018-19 PSL season and is eager to get started. 

"Pakistan Super League has grown into one of the top T20 tournaments in the world and I've really enjoyed watching PSL matches in recent years. PSL is a league that has given Pakistan so much to cheer about. I certainly can't wait and I'll see you there."

De Villiers announced his retirement from international cricket earlier this year after the conclusion of the Indian Premier League. The Royal Bangalore Challengers' star brings 11 years of IPL experience, along with the 2016 season at the Caribbean Premier League for Barbados Tridents. 

In 141 IPL appearances, De Villiers has smashed 3953 runs and has scored three hundreds and 28 fifties at a strike rate at 150.94. 

Newly elected PCB chairman Ehsan Mani welcomed De Villiers on board and said that his presence will add 'immense value' to the Pakistan Super League.

We are delighted with the signing of de Villiers for Pakistan Super League," said Mani. "He is a modern-day great and he will add immense value to the tournament. His involvement in PSL will also provide great learning opportunities for our youngsters."
