An MBBS student who appeared in place of a NEET aspirant in the medical entrance exam on Sunday was detained along with five others, including the candidate, in Rajasthan's Bharatpur. Abhishek Gupta, the MBBS student, and his accomplices were apprehended following initial investigations. The police discovered that Gupta, enrolled in a government college, was involved in a racket being run by his fellow collegemate Ravi Meena. Meena purportedly accepted Rs 10 lakh from candidate Rahul Gurjar as part of the illicit operation, the police stated.

"At an examination centre, Abhishek was found impersonating Rahul Gurjar. On suspicion, the invigilator handed him over to the police. During initial interrogation, he told police that he was accompanied by five others," Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Aklesh Kumar said.

 Accused are being interrogated

The detained MBBS student revealed that his accomplices were waiting in a car parked outside the examination center, Master Adityendra School, located under the Mathura Gate police station area. The Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) stated that all the accused are currently undergoing interrogation, and further actions will be taken accordingly. Apart from Abhishek Gupta, Ravi Meena, and Rahul Gurjar, the individuals detained were identified as Amit, Dayaram, and Suraj Singh, as per police sources.

Candidates complain of receiving question papers in wrong language

Meanwhile, at a center in Sawai Madhopur, some candidates taking the NEET-UG examination raised complaints about receiving question papers in a language different from their chosen medium. The candidates' parents alleged that they were thrashed by police when they lodged a protest.

Later, the National Testing Agency (NTA) said in a public notice that an incident of "incorrect distribution" of question papers by the centre superintendent had come to light. "In order to uphold the principles of fairness and equal opportunity for all candidates, the NTA has taken proactive measures. The examination of approximately 120 affected candidates at the centre is being conducted today, ensuring that their academic aspirations are not hindered by this incident," said Sadhna Parashar, Senior Director, NTA.
