IAF helicopter suffers technical glitch, makes emergency landing in Rajasthan's Merta

Two IAF choppers were going from Jodhpur to Jaipur when one of the pilots witnessed some problems, which caused the chopper to have to land. After rectifying the problem, the chopper took off again, Merta DSP Ramkaran Malinda said.

An Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter on Wednesday suffered a technical glitch and made an emergency landing in Rajasthan's Merta area of Nagaur, police said.

The chopper landed in farm fields in Jasnagar. No loss of life was reported, police said. Two IAF choppers were going from Jodhpur to Jaipur when one of the pilots witnessed some problems, which caused the chopper to have to land. After rectifying the problem, the chopper took off again, Merta DSP Ramkaran Malinda said.

An expert team of the Indian Air Force reached the spot and fixed the helicopter's technical fault.

Defence officials also stated that a technical team has been detected in the helicopter and the emergency landing happened after the chopper developed a minor glitch during a routine training exercise.

“All occupants, including Wing Commander Pal Singh, are safe, and the helicopter has been secured on the ground. The local administration has provided full support," the defence official said. 

In the meantime, the local eye witnesses said that there were two IAF choppers while one headed towards its destination, the other had to land due to technical problems. Soon after the chopper made the emergency landing, a huge number of locals were also seen gathering around the chopper.
