New Delhi: Senior Aam Aadmi Party leaders and founding members Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan were voted out from the party's key Political Affairs Committee (PAC) on Wednesday.

The decision was taken by the 21 member national executive of the AAP. Speaking to the reporters after the meeting, Yadav said, “Will work as a disciplined worker and do whatever work that is assigned.”

“The AAP national executive has decided that Yogendra Yadav and I will no longer remain members of the PAC,” said Prashant Bhushan soon after the meeting got over.

The AAP has been embroiled in an ugly internal strife barely a month after forming a majority government in Delhi. The AAP had earlier decided to give new responsibilities to its founder members, who had openly revolted against Arvind Kejriwal. A day after he said he was hurt by the revolt within the party, the Delhi Chief Minister offered to resign as the party's national convener moments before the meeting.

Before the meeting, Yadav said he would "neither split nor quit" the party. "Na todenge, na chhodenge. Sudhrenge aur sudharenge (We will neither break the party or leave. We will reform ourselves and the party," Yadav had said.

Yadav said that for the past three days, there have been many messages from party volunteers on social media asking them to stay united. "I am sure that in the evening we will be able to tell you that we have moved step forward and not backward," Yadav told reporters ahead of the meeting of the 21-member National Executive meeting.

A day after he said he was "deeply hurt" by the revolt within the party, Kejriwal offered to resign as the party's national convener moments before the meeting, which he also skipped. He is expected to now leave for a 10-day naturopathy treatment in Bangalore.
