Will seek PM's intervention if WB govt doesn't act: BJP

Kolkata: Slamming the Mamata Banerjee regime in West Bengal on law and order, the BJP today dubbed it as a government of “anarchy and violence” and said it would seek the Prime Minister's intervention if

“If this state-assisted violence continues, then BJP will seek intervention of the National Commission of SC/ ST, Union Home ministry and the Prime Minister's Office to contain the violence if the state government is not in a capacity to contain it,” Lekhi said.

The team also submitted a memorandum to Chief secretary Sanjoy Mitra and urged him to take action within next 24 hours.

Naqvi alleged that the Trinamool Congress regime was worse than that of the previous Left Front government.  The team, Naqvi said, would submit a report to the party president and Union Home minister Rajnath Singh after returning to Delhi.

Asked whether the team felt that the present law and order situation called for central intervention, Naqvi said, “We will submit the report to the party president.  “This is not an act of violence, but an act of terror. We want that action should be initiated within next 24 hours.”

Asked about the response of the chief secretary, Singh said, “He has not been that responsive. But we will wait and watch what action is taken.”
