New Delhi:  Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has raised a very valid question on whether parliament is well equipped to handle medical emergencies or not. And if it is well equipped, why was Sonia Gandhi not sent to hospital in an ambulance?

Sonia Gandhi had to leave the parliament Monday evening in a hurry after she complained of uneasiness  and chest pain. Sonia Gandhi appeared to stumble as she walked down the parliament steps.

Gandhi quickly held union minister Kumari Selja's left hand and recovered her poise. Her son Rahul Gandhi and Selja accompanied her in a car to the AIIMS.  Sonia Gandhi spent nearly five hours in AIIMS before she was finally discharged.

Expressing concern over Sonia Gandhi's health, Modi pointed out that instead of a car, she should have been taken to hospital in a well-equipped ambulance.  He also expressed concerned over the fact that basic medical emergency procedures were not used and said that  wheelchair or stretcher should have been used for taking her out of parliament.
