Why is Narendra Modi dying for US visa, asks Renuka Chaudhary (India TV Exclusive)

New Delhi, Aug 1: Renuka Chaudhary is one of the most articulate spokespersons of the Congress party. She never minces words in criticizing her opponents but at the same time,  is always effusive in her

Q: But there is no unanimity within your party over Modi challenge because some of your own leaders have said that the party should take Modi more seriously.

Renuka:
It's not about unanimity or lack of unanimity. It is democracy and an expression of other's opinions. Being a daughter of an army man, I can tell you that army teaches you to never underestimate the enemy. It's correct because the army should always be ready for any battle, irrespective of who the enemy is.

Q: Will Manmohan Singh also be a PM candidate in 2014?

Renuka: We'll let you know once 2014 arrives.

Q: BJP says their slogan for 2014 will be ‘Congress se mukti'. What will be your counter-slogan?

Renuka: BJP has a very small vision. Our slogan will be ‘Bharat ki shakti'. We'll make the nation more powerful. We think about the country, not about any small party.

Q: What achievements and issues you will focus on in 2014 elections?

Renuka: See, we have a long list of achievements. BJP has ridiculed us before every election. When Rajiv Gandhi talked about computer education, they used to laugh but today just see where we are in computer education. When Rajiv suggested voting rights for youngsters of 18 years of age, our opponents termed it as election gimmick. This is the era of young people. We have empowered women. Soniaji  has taken forward Rajiv Gandhi's agenda on this front. Rajiv ji started with 33 percent reservation to women; Sonia jee has taken it forward to 50 percent reservation for women in panchayat elections.  It has all happened because our party leaders were visionaries and they have always acted without any selfishness.
