New Delhi, Jan 21: Congress' newly appointed vice president Rahul Gandhi received a warm welcome from Youth Congress workers on return here Sunday evening from the party's three-day Chintan Shivir at Jaipur.
Over 300 Youth Congress activists, some of them beating drums and shouting slogans, turned up at the Indira Gandhi International Airport to welcome Gandhi.
"Around 6.15 p.m., Gandhi accompanied with his mother and party chief Sonia Gandhi landed in a private chartered plane at IGI Airport," an airport official said.
Gandhi, however, did not talk or interact with them but waved at them as as he sat inside his car, said the official.
He also received a warm welcome at his mother's official residence, 10 Janpath. Around 500 supporters set off fire crackers and beat drums outside the party office and also at his residence.
The supporters had started gathering at 10 Janpath since 4 p.m. and remained raising slogans in favour of Rahul Gandhi, said a party leader.
