New Delhi: Vinod Kumar Binny, the AAP MLA, is in news once again as he has raised the banner of revolt against Arvind Kejriwal and his government for the second time.Binny is said to be angry with denial of ministership to him and has accused the Kejriwal govt of betraying people on issues of Water and electricity.He has threatened to go on indefinite fast on Jantar Mantar from January 27 if the AAP govt fails to fulfill the promises that it made in its manifesto to the people of Delhi.Vinod Kumar Binny caused one of the major upsets in recently concluded Delhi assembly elections when he defeated the four times Congress MLA and Sheila Dikshit govt's finance minister Dr A K Walia from Lakshmi Nagar assembly constituency by more than 8,000 votes.Binny himself is an ex-Congressman. He had been two time municipal corporator as well.Binny won as corporator from Dallupura ward as an independent. He won for the first time in 2007 from this ward. In 2009, he joined Congress but continued as an independent corporator.In 2011, he quit the Congress after joining Kejriwal's India Against Corruption (IAC).In 2012, he won from the same Dallupura ward but with double margin. In the same year 2012, Binny sided with Arvind Kejriwal when he floated a new political party after partying ways with Anna Hazare.A graduate from Motilal Nehru College, Binny claims he does not have any immovable assets like house, agricultural land, etc.). He had declared total assets worth Rs 19 lakh in his affidavit filed with the Election Commission.He has a Maruti SX4 car valued at Rs 9,70,000. In his affidavit, he said he and his family was in possession of 111 grammes of gold and 600 grammes of silver worth Rs 3,63,000. He also has bonds worth Rs 5 lakh. He lives in a joint family in Vasundhara Enclave, which falls in the Dallupura area. After the spectacular victory of AAP in Delhi assembly elections, Vinod Binny was expecting a ministerial berth as he was the only person among the AAP winners who had prior experience of active politics.Binny got angry and raised the banner of revolt for the first time when his name was dropped from the list of ministers to be sworn-in by Delhi Lt Governor.At that time, senior AAP leaders like Kumar Vishwas and Yogendra Yadav went to Binny's home and persuaded him to follow the party decision and Binny had complied.This time he has directly attacked Arvind Kejriwal, his style of functioning and the dominance of his childhood friends.The party has taken strong exception to his utterances and is mulling to issue a show cause notice to Binny.
