New Delhi: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has arrived in Delhi today morning to attend a NITI Aayog meeting, amid the ongoing calls by the opposition for her resignation in Lalit Modi case.
Sources said that the Chief Minister will not be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Earlier reports suggested that she will be meeting the Prime Minister to explain her stand on controversy surrounding her name.
Sources, however, indicated that the CM will be meeting several top BJP leaders including party president Amit Shah later in the day.
Several top BJP leaders have already held separate meetings to devise a strategy on ending the controversy.
It is, however, unclear that she will be meeting PM Modi tomorrow, when she attends sub-committee meeting of NITI Aayog.
Yesterday night, Shah had met the Prime Minister to discuss the party's strategy over a fresh disclosure that Raje was allegedly benefitted from investments of over Rs 11 crore made by Lalit Modi in her son's company.
The meeting between Modi and Shah took place at the Prime Minister's official residence 7, Race Course Road. Earlier in the day, Shah had met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who also met the Prime Minister separately.
Jaitley and Shah were believed to have deliberated on the party's strategy to ride out the massive row involving Raje as well as External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
The BJP has been defending Swaraj and Raje after the two were hit with worry last week that they secretly supported former IPL chairman Lalit Modi, under investigation by Enforcement Directorate (ED), in procuring his travel document in UK.
