One of his controversial speeches which he gave at the Dalchand Mohalla area of Pilibhit resulted in a case lodged against him. He was proved innocent in the case. Very recently, he was acquitted for another provocative speech case which he gave during a campaign in the 2009 elections.
He is married to Yamini Roy Chowdhury who is the daughter of Sunil Roy Chowdhury.
