New Delhi: Union Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh on Wednesday took to social media to get back at Congress Vice President (VP) Rahul Gandhi for questioning his absence from Parliament.

"Intriguing that Rahul Gandhi questions my absence from the parliament, wonder how someone who vanished for 57 days earlier this year and has one of the poorest track records when it comes to attending the parliament (43% in 2013), does so with a straight face (sic)," VK Singh wrote on Twitter.

The former Army chief also lashed out at the Congress VP for his comments in the Parliament. Rahul Gandhi had on Tuesday sought VK Singh's ouster from the ministry for allegedly comparing Dalit children with dogs. He went on to accuse Singh of challenging the Constitution with his remarks about the killing of the two children in Haryana.

"He deserves no justification from me about my #commitment, #love and #respect for this great nation. He talks about my intention to participate in divisive politics, but forgets that I served the army of our great nation for 42 years (sic),"  VK Singh shot back through a series of tweets.

"He forgets that my men & I put our lives on the line to protect this very socio-economic & cultural fabric of our nation (sic)," he said.

VK Singh saw himself in the thick of controversy yet again in October when he referred to stoning a dog while commenting on the burning of two Dalit children in a Haryana village.

VK Singh later claimed that he had been misunderstood.
