Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has finally decided to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Devendra Fadnavis who is set to take over as the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
The news was confirmed by Shiv Sena MP Vinayak Raut who said that Uddhav Thackeray has decided to attend the oath taking ceremony of Fadnavis.
Raut said that Uddhav decided to attend the swearing in after he got a call this morning from BJP chief Amit Shah who requested him to attend the ceremony slated to be held at Wankhede Stadium.
Earlier, Shiv Sena had announced a complete boycott of the swearing-in ceremony of the first BJP government in Maharashtra.
In a front-page statement in the party mouthpiece, Saamana and Dopahar ka Saamana, the party said that no legislator, parliamentarian or other officials shall take part in the oath taking ceremony of BJP's Chief Minister-designate Devendra Fadnavis and his small cabinet at Wankhede Stadium.
