New Delhi: Pritam Munde, the second daughter of late Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Gopinath Munde, scripted Lok Sabha history winning the Beed seat in Maharashtra in a bypoll by a record margin of nearly seven lakh votes.This is not for the first time that any leader has won the election with such a huge margin. Earlier, the record for maximum victory margin in the Lok Sabha polls was held by Anil Basu of CPI-M. He had won by 5,92,502 votes from Arambagh in West Bengal during the 2004 general elections.Prime Minister Narendra Modi also created a record for winning with the highest margin in 2014 Lok Sabha elections.Here, we are compiling a list of Top 5 Lok Sabha MPs who have created record for registering highest victory margins in Lok Sabha elections.Pritam Munde (BJP)According to the Election Commission, Pritam Munde (32) bagged a total of 9,16,923 votes while her nearest rival, Ashokrao Shankarrao Patil of the Congress, secured 2,24,678 votes.The Beed bypoll was necessitated following the death of Gopinath Munde in a road accident in Delhi in June this year.She is the second daughter of Gopinath Munde. Her sister Pankaja Munde won the Parli Assembly constituency in the recently concluded assembly polls.Prime Minister Modi, BJP president Amit Shah had campaigned in Beed to garner support for Pritam. The Prime Minister had commenced his campaign for the Maharashtra assembly from here only.Beed Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 48 Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra. This constituency was formed in 1951.Anil Basu (CPI-M)The record for a maximum victory margin in the Lok Sabha polls was earlier held by Anil Basu of Communist Party of India (Marxist) from 2004 to 2014. He had who won by 5,92,502 votes from Arambagh in West Bengal during the 2004 general elections.He was elected for the first time to the eighth Lok Sabha in 1984 from Arambagh constituency in West Bengal. He was re-elected to the Lower House of the Parliament in 1989, 1991, 1996, 1998, 1999 and 2004 from the same constituency.The CPI (M) had in 2012 expelled him on charge of nepotism, anti-party activities and breach of discipline.PV Narasimha Rao (Congress)The third highest victory margin has been recorded by late Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao. He had won from Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh with a 5.8 lakh margin in 1991.Rao's victory from here was recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records.Rao had served as the tenth Prime Minister of India from 1991 to 1996. He was the first holder of the Prime Minister's Office from south India. He led an important administration, overseeing a major economic transformation and several home incidents affecting national security of India. He is often referred to as the ‘Father of Indian Economic Reforms'.
