Lucknow, Apr 8: Amid apprehensions that BSP supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minster Mayawati might declare early polls, the Samajwadi Party today released a list of 162 candidates for the 2012 State Assembly elections.
The list, released by party state president Akhilesh Yadav and senior party leader Shivpal Singh Yadav here, figures a number of former ministers and sitting MLA's while some new faces have also been added.
Prominent among those in the list include Shivpal Singh Yadav from Jaswant Nagar Singh and daughter of former chief secretary Akhand Pratap Singh, Juhi Singh from Lucknow.
The name of Amanmani Tripahti, son of jailed MLA Amarmani Tripathi, also finds mention from Nautanwa seat along with that of Vijay Mishra, accused of a bomb attack on BSP minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi in Allahabad, from Gyanpur seat.
Asked about the list of the remaining (403) seats, Akhilesh said it would be released soon to give "ample time to candidates for campaigning." PTI
