New Delhi: Delhi's Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Saturday held a press conference to release the health bulletin on Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
The health bulletin reads: "Congress President Mrs Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Thursday evening with lower respiratory tract infection and some breathing difficulty for treatment and observation.
"Mrs Gandhi is felling better and her condition is improving. Her medications will continue and she will remain under observation", the health bulletin said, quoting Dr Ajay Swaroop, chairman (officiating), board of management, of the hospital.
Dr Swaroop clarified that any speculations contrary to above, in certain sections of media, are entirely false and unwarranted.
The health bulletin state that Sonia Gandhi has been admitted under the care of Dr Arup Kumar Basu, senior consultant and chairman of respiratory medicine and his team. "She is undergoing treatment for her lower respiratory tract infection and has shown steady improvement", the bulletin said.
IANS adds: There has been intense speculation about Gandhi's health after her 2011 surgery in the US.
She spent about five weeks in the US, where she reportedly underwent a successful surgery at New York's Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
According to media reports, she was also treated for mild asthma for six days in 2008.
Ahead of the Tripura assembly polls in February 2013, Gandhi, who was scheduled to address two election meetings in the state, cancelled her visit due to ill health.
Gandhi also cancelled her day-long tour of Maharashtra in April ahead of the 2014 general elections, citing health reasons. She was to address three election rallies.
