Panaji, Jul 9: BJP's Goa desk incharge Smriti Irani today downplayed the appointment of Digvijay Singh as in-charge of Congress state unit saying that she was not concerned with the other party's internal developments.

“I don't look at what the Congress does internally within its own organisation as a matter of concern for BJP,” she said when asked to respond to Singh's appointment in Goa by the Congress high command.

During his recent visit, Singh had begun rejuvenating the principal opposition Congress party in the state.

“I am of the firm belief that BJP, specifically in the state of Goa, tends to benefit from Parrikarji's (Manohar Parrikar) leadership and Sripadji's (North Goa MP Sripad Naik) experience.

What Digvijay Singh does is none of my business,” Smriti said, who was in Goa to participate in the state executive committee meeting held yesterday.

Terming the recent reports about a possible bid to topple Parrikar-led government as a “rumour,” she said, “I have always maintained that I never answer questions based on speculations. I don't answer on rumours which are propagated by you as a journalist,” she said.

Rumours about toppling the Parrikar government were rife when two legislators - Vishnu Surya Wagh and Micheal Lobo, who were apparently in a rebellion mood, did not turn up for the state executive meeting.

Refusing to answer why these legislators skipped the state executive meeting, Irani said the government is firm in saddle in Goa, irrespective of whatever rumours were being propagated.
