Siddaramaiah, the Karnataka chief minister

New Delhi: .His obsession with success invited numerous negative remarks from opposition but his determination at last bagged him the chief ministership of the Karnataka state. An advocate by profession, Siddaramiah was born on August 12, 1948. He let go off his career in law and entered politics by contesting for Karnataka assembly. His political career took off with his victory from Chamundeshwari constituency in Mysore representing the Lok Dal in 1983. His victory opened his doors for Karnataka Assembly. In the years that followed, he joined Janata Party which merged with other parties and became Janata Dal in 1988.Siddaramiah received support from the influential patron of his time HD Deve Gowda. After Deve Gowda left the chief minister's chair to be inducted as the prime minister, Siddaramiah lost his chance to take over after JH Patel succeeded Deve Gowda.After Janata Dal split into two, Janata Dal (United) and Janata Dal (secular) in 1999, Siddharamiah parted ways and joined Deve Gowda soon to become the party president in the state.The year 2005 saw the paradigm of change. Siddaramiah's ouster from JD(S) took place. It was believed that the ouster took place with a view to promote Deve Gowda's son Kumaraswamy as party leader. Consequently, Siddaramiah joined Congress in 2006 and a year later he won the by-election from Chamundeshwari constituency.Hailing from the shepherd community, Siddaramiah was born in a village near Mysore. He completed his B.Sc as well as his law degree from Mysore University.Married to Parvathi, Siddaramiah has two sons Rakesh and Yathindra. Rakesh has laid his hands on acting and Yathindra is a doctor by profession.
