Hyderabad, Sep 20: The nationwide shutdown had its impact on the Andhra Pradesh assembly Thursday, with the opposition parties forcing its adjournment for the day.
Deputy speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka adjourned the house till Friday shortly after it re-assembled following three adjournments.
Vikramarka and Minister of Legislative Affairs Sridhar Babu's repeated appeals to the opposition to cooperate in the functioning of the house went in vain.
Amid the din, the chair allowed some legislators of the ruling Congress party to speak. They criticized the opposition for adopting double standards.
The noisy protests by the opposition in the legislative council also forced chairman Chakrapani to adjourn the house.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), YSR Congress Party, BJP, CPI and CPI-M stalled the proceedings of both house to protest the hike in diesel price, cap on subsidized cooking gas cylinders and FDI in retail.
Thursday was the third day of five-day monsoon session.
