Etawah (UP), Aug 15: Apparently irked by pressure from the media to give reaction on some issue, senior Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Shivpal Singh on Tuesday allegedly threatened to have mediapersons arrested if they come to him without being invited.
Shivpal, uncle of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, while listening to the problems of the people in his hometown was allegedly pressurised by the media to give a byte on some issue on which he called the information officer, sources said.
The PWD minister, who had courted controversy two days ago by his “if you work hard you can steal a little” remarks to his ministry officials, told the mediapersons not to come just like that, they said.
He said that whenever he has something to say he calls a press conference and the media can ask him questions there. Shivpal said that at times mediapersons come without invitation and thrust the mike.
He allegedly asked the mediapersons to come when called otherwise he would get them arrested.
