Mumbai, Mar 16: Shiv Sena MLC Ramdas Kadam today alleged a scam of Rs 10,000 crore in the Slum Rehabilitation Authority's housing project in suburban Santacruz, and demanded a judicial inquiry.

“The state government approved an SRA scheme on about 140 acres of land in Santacruz which belongs to the defence ministry," Kadam alleged in the Legislative Council.

He also alleged that Nira Radia, the PR consultant facing probe in connection with the 2G spectrum scam, had a stake in the project.

"This is a scam of Rs 10,000 crore and judicial inquiry should be conducted," he demanded.

The Sena leader said that he could produce evidence obtained from Urban Development Department to prove his claim that land belonged to the defence ministry.

The project is being carried out by Shivalik Builders.

In reply, Minister of State for Housing Sachin Ahir said the plot (CTC-13) belonged to Maharashtra Housing and Development Authority (MHADA) while the neighbouring plot (CTC- 12) was a defence land.

"There is no need for a judicial inquiry, and the Radia's case comes under the purview of the Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax departments," he said.

However, Kadam said he had evidence that the land on which the project was coming up was a defence land. Ahir assured that government would look into it if any additional evidence was produced.

But insisting on judicial inquiry, Kadam walked out of the house. PTI
