New Delhi: 1. The political journey of three times UP chief minister and former governor of Andhra Pradesh, Narayan Dutt Tiwari has been a scandalous one. A veteran politician belonging to Indian national Congress, Tiwari got the unique opportunity of being the Chief Minister of two states – Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.He was thrice UP CM while served as Uttarakhand CM for one term. He was also Minister of External Affairs in Rajiv Gandhi cabinet. In 2007, he became the governor of Andhra Pradesh and held that position for 2 years until his involvement in a sex scandal was exposed by a news channel.A video showing Tiwari in bed with three women at his official residence in Raj Bhawan was shown on a Telegu language news channel, ABN Andhra JyotSubsequently, a complaint was lodged against Tiwari charging him for abusing girls, blackmailing and misusing his office. Finally, Tiwari tendered a public apology but insisted that he was a victim of political conspiracy hatched by his opponents. 2. In 2008, a young man Rohit Shekhar filed a case against N.D. Tiwari. Rohit claimed that Tiwari was his biological father and demanded his DNA mapping.Tiwari was married to Sushila Sanwal Tiwari since 1954 but did not have any children. Tiwari persuaded Ujjawala Sharma, mother of Rohit and daughter of a leading Congressman, to bore him a child. Tiwari promised to marry Ujjawala at a later stage but failed to keep his promise. According to Ujjawala, Tiwari used to visit her when she was living with her father who was a member of parliament. That was the time when they got into a relationship.Tiwari was the president of All India Youth Congress and Ujjwala served as general secretary at that time.According to allegations made by Ujjawala, Tiwari won her confidence by telling her that his wife could not bear an offspring due to some medical problems and convinced her to have their own child.Ujjwala agreed to his wish as he promised to marry her after getting divorce from his wife Sushila.By the time Rohit was born, Tiwari had become an MP and had started losing interest in Ujjwala and her son.In 1993, his wife Sushila died following which he promised Ujjwala to accept Rohit as his son publicly. But he failed to keep his word once again.After the petition was filed by Rohit, the court ordered Tiwai to undergo a DNA test.A request was filed by Tiwari's lawyers not to disclose the DNA test result to general public but the request was rejected by court.The DNA test result established that Tiwari and Ujjwala were Rohit's biological parents.It was shocking to see how a veteran politician like N.D. Tiwari lacked the courage to accept his own child publicly and how he was compelled by the court to do so.
