New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today announced Rs one crore financial assistance to the family of CRPF Jawan Narottam Das who was killed in a Maoist attack in Bihar.

Kejriwal along with deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia attended the cremation of Narottam at his village in Najafgarh and assured his wife of all support, including a job.  Narottam lost his life in a landmine blast at Gaya district of Bihar by suspected Maoists on February 24.

After meeting the bereaved family members, the chief minister announced the compensation of Rs one crore for the family of the martyr jawan.

“Narottam laid down his life while performing his duty and the state government will honour his sacrifice,” Kejriwal said here.

He also expressed hope that the martyr's wife will be provided a job by the CRPF and if required, Delhi government will also offer her a job.

“He (Narottam) laid his life for all of us. Our duty to ensure his family taken care of. Del govt will provide fin supprt Rs 1 crore to bereaved family (SIC),” Kejriwal tweeted.

The Delhi CM said that he has assured Narottam's wife of all support.

“I know its too small compared to the loss. I assured his wife of all support, including a job (SIC),” he said in his tweet.

The incident had happened near Nandai on Imamganj - Dumaria route while the paramilitary jawans and police personnel were moving during an anti-naxal operation.

The Maoists had planted an IED on the route and triggered it off when a mini-bus carrying CRPF personnel was passing over it.

The CRPF DIG had said the families of the slain personnel will receive around Rs 80 lakh each including Rs 20 lakh of insurance money and Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia declared by the Bihar government.
