Amethi: Union Minister Smriti Irani today dared Congress party to send in jail if Minister's allegation that Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust (RGCT) has grabbed land of farmers in Amethi is wrong.
Irani, who was in Amethi for a tree plantation drive, was replying the Congress party for sending her a legal notice asking her to desist from speaking against the Gandhi family and the party.
The Union Minister said that she would not be intimidated by the threats of Congress party and was even willing to go to jail for the people of Amethi.
“India's women are not so weak. If I've been given a notice because I've raised voice of people of Amethi, I'm ready to accept 100 such notices,” she said.
On Saturday, Congress had sent a legal notice to Irani accusing her of making ‘false and malicious' allegations against RGCT and Congress in her two public utterances.
Irani had accused the Gandhi family of unlawfully passing over the land, meant for welfare of farmers, to Samrat Bicycles, a private firm.
Furthermore, Irani assured that she would look into the case of agitating shiksha mitras, who tried to stop her convoy. She said the HRD ministry would look into the matter as soon as it receives the papers from the Uttar Pradesh in this regard.
