New Delhi: The Congress has alleged that Arunachal Pradesh Governor JP Rajkhowa's report to the Central government about imposition of President's rule in the state had been selectively leaked and sought an answer from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue.

Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala today said that the copy of the report is available either with the Governor or the Home Ministry and it "obvious that the report has been leaked either" of them.

The leakage of report was "an affront" to the constitution bench of the Supreme Court which is hearing a petition challenging the imposition of President's Rule in the state, he said.

He said it is also "an affront to the constitutional modes and basic tenets of federalism and democracy."

"We demand that Prime Minister Narendra Modi comes forward and gives a comprehensive answer on the leakage of the report. Why the report is being selectively leaked in order to plant a particular set of stories," Surjewala said.

The Governor on Thursday submitted to the Supreme Court, in a sealed cover, his reports to the central government on the political crisis in the northeastern state including the one in which he recommended President's rule be imposed.

Rajkhowa submitted the reports in pursuance to the directions of the constitution bench.
