Mumbai, Jul 8: Sticking to the demand of renaming Dadar station here after ‘Chaityabhoomi' (memorial of Dr Ambedkar which is in the same area), NCP has said that it had given a representation on the issue to the Maharashtra Chief Minister, Prithviraj Chavan.
“NCP has been making this demand for the past ten years... We also demand that the land of Indu Mill should be given for building a bigger memorial of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar,” said party spokesperson Madan Bafna.
“We are firm on the demand that Dadar station be renamed, but what Congress wants to demand is its own business,” he said.
Asked about allegations levelled by former minister Shalinitai Patil that Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar had connections with gangster Chotta Rajan's brother, Bafna said, “She (Shalinitai) has grown old and she should keep quiet. But she is used to making such criticisms. It is not a serious matter. The party has not taken her allegations seriously.”
Bafna also said that state government should help the farmers who had to sow the fields twice due to scanty rainfall.
Asked if Ajit Pawar can hold the ‘Janata Durbar', why other ministers from NCP were not doing so, Bafna replied, “We are asking the NCP ministers to hold such interactive sessions once a week. But due to the busy schedules, it is not working out.” PTI
