New Delhi: Taking a hard line against continuance of Justice AK Ganguly as Chairperson of West Bengal Human Rights Commission, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj today demanded in the parliament that he should be removed if he refuses to resign.
Justice Ganguly was indicted by a Supreme Court panel of "unwanted conduct of a sexual nature."
"It is unfortunate that even after the strong laws framed after the Nirbhaya case, incidents like this happen. The higher a person's post, the bigger is his crime and the punishment should be tougher. His status should not be a shield against punishment," said Sushma swaraj.
The allegations against Justice Ganguly came to light last month when a young female lawyer accused him of sexually harassing her when she worked with him as an intern.
