New Delhi: AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal Thursday cited the example of Bhagat Singh to demand that the age to contest elections must be reduced from 25 to 21 years.
Under existing rules, one has to be at least 25 years old to fight state assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
"If you can get married at the age of 21, if Bhagat Singh had a vision at age 23, surely the age limit to contest elections must be brought down," Kejriwal said while releasing his party's election manifesto.
This, he said, would encourage more youth participation in the country's political process.
