Jaipur: In a first of its kind, Congress in Rajasthan has earmarked a quota of 40 per cent for the youth in the mayoral, municipal and local body elections taking place currently in 46 cities and towns across the state.
“It's a 40-40 formula. 40 per cent of the Congress tickets to be given to candidate below the age of 40 years. This is being done for the first time by any political party in India,” Congress chief in Rajasthan Sachin Pilot told PTI.
He stressed that Congress in the state is ensuring youth participation in the real sense. Congress, which was wiped out in the Assembly elections last year, has managed a comeback by winning three out of four seats in the bypolls in September.
It wrested Weir, Nasirabad and Surajgarh Assembly seats from the ruling BJP which could retain only the Kota seat.
