Furious Rahul Gandhi suspends Maharashtra NSUI chief, 2 others for indecent behaviour

Mumbai, May 7: A furious Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi has ordered the suspension of Maharashtra state NSUI president Suraj Singh Thakur, general secretary Vicky Vhatkar and national delegate Hitendra Gandhi for "indecent behaviour" at a training meet conducted in Panvel during March this year. The suspension letters were issued today by NSUI president Rohit Choudhary to the three office bearers. The Jawaharlal Nehru Leadership Institute was conducting a three-day training workshop for elected NSUI and Youth Congress officebearers at The Woods resort in Panvel from March 13 to 15.On March 14 night, some of the NSUI officebearers in an inebriated state tried to force other officebearers, including females, to undress and dance with them. Suresh Sharma, who was conducting the workshop on behalf of JNLI,canceled the last day training on March 15 and informed Rahul Gandhi's office about the "most indecent behaviou"r they have ever faced in the entire country.It ws the first time ever that JNLI has demanded the suspension of an NSUI State President on deciplinary grounds.Several posts on NSUI's official Facebook page have condemned Thakur's behaviour. "NSUI stands strongly against anyone who flouts discipline. Stringent actions will be taken up against such individuals," reads one post.The NSUI states further that Suraj Thakur had been suspended on the grounds of indiscipline."The organization won't tolerate any form of indiscipline; stringent actions will be taken up," reads another messages posted on Tuesday morning.Thakur reportedly first gained prominence after he led protests against the book of Rajiv Gandhi's alleged killer AG Perarivalan in May 2011. He had also organised a demonstration against BJP leader LK Advani later that year in November.
