Rahul Gandhi should not have used the word 'nonsense', Sheila Dikshit tells Adalat

New Delhi: Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit has said Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi should not have used words like 'nonsense' for the ordinance on convicted lawmakers later withdrawn by the Centre. Appearing in Rajat Sharma's show Aap Ki Adalat on India TV, Dikshit said "you can say that some other words could have been used in place of nonsense." On being pointed out that the ordinance was cleared by the Union cabinet and almost all big guns of the Congress party had spoken in favour of it, Dikshit said it was all part of the system and what Rahul said was the "people's voice".Asked whether Congress was afraid of Narendra Modi, she said her party was not at all afraid of Modi and " if he wants to be the Delhi chief minister, he can come." Dikshit denied charges of circulating pamphlets against Modi during his recent rally. On Modi's charge that Delhi does not have 24-hr power supply and even the PM residence has a generator, she said that generators are made available to PM and other VVIPs due to security reasons When participants in the show complained about load shedding in their areas, Dikshit said those could be due to local faults On the spread of dengue in Delhi she expressed concern and said all arrangements were being made to tackle the problem. She said due to long monsoon the situation worsened On high vegetable prices specially onions, Dikshit challenged saying, "name one state that is not affected due to price rise. It is only our government which is selling onions at Rs 45 a kg." On Modi's jibe that she was very lucky as she doesn't have to do anything except cutting ribbons, Dikshit said that Modi has no idea about Delhi's administrative set-up On the rising numbers of rapes and murders in Delhi, Dikshit said due to Delhi's geographical location, criminals slip into other states after committing crimes. "Had the situation been that grim as projected, then why 5 lakh people come to Delhi every year" was her counter-question. Dikshit said, she and her party would keep on demanding that police be handed over to Delhi government, but the decision rests with the Centre and has nothing to do with politics as Congress is in power at the Centre. On Modi's charge that massive corruption during the Commonwealth Games has brought down Delhi's reputation, she said, it was one of the best events ever held in India and even the Commonwealth Games Federation has acknowledged the fact "I want to tell Modiji that Delhi would not have been so beautiful as today without the Commonwealth Games", Dikshit said. On Signature bridge she said the foundation stone has been laid but due to complications, it will take another 2-3 years but will be the pride of Delhi.
