Iterating that Congress has no plans to tie up with former ally Trinamool Congress, Chowdhury said the candidates list for the Lok Sabha elections will be finalised by second week of March.

Congress leader Manas Ranjan Bhunia, who met party president Sonia Gandhi during the day, also said that the party will be going alone in the polls.

"I have informed the party top leadership that we are ready and capable of fighting the polls on our own might. We don't need to forge an alliance. I have also requested Sonia ji that senior party leaders should visit and hold public rallies to impress the people of Bengal," Bhunia said.
