New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today chair the maiden meeting of his newly expanded cabinet. This meeting wille followed by a meeting of Council Ministers.
"A Cabinet meeting would be held at 5:30 PM today and will be followed by a meeting of the entire council of Ministers," a government source said.
Two days back PM Modi inducted Manohar Parrikar, former Chief minister if Goa, and others into the Union Cabinet. He expanded his Council of Ministers by introducing 21 new entrants.
Manohar Parrikar has been given Defence portfolio, held formerly by Arun Jaitley.
Yesterday Former Shiv Sena leader Suresh Prabhu formally joined the BJP before being sworn in as Cabinet Minister in the first expansion of the Narendra Modi government.
Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Bandaru Dattatreya, first leader from Telangana after it became a separate state, J P Nadda and Choudhury Birendra Singh, a prominent Jat leader who has joined the BJP from the Congress were inducted into the cabinet.
Since assuming power in May, this is the first time that the Prime Minister is revamping his ministry.
