New Delhi: Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi will embark on a three nation tour of China, Mongolia and Republic of Korea on May 14, announced Ministry of External Affairs today.
MEA announced in a statement, “PM will pay a three nation official visit to China, Mongolia and Republic of Korea from May 14–19, 2015.”
“In China, PM will visit Xian, Beijing and Shanghai from May 14–16, will hold bilateral meetings with China's leadership,” MEA said.
Modi will also attend an event organized by the Indian community in China.
Next on PM's itinerary is Mongolia. He will be the first Indian PM ever to visit Mongolia. “PM's official engagements in Mongolia will be on May 17,”said MEA.
Third country on Modi's visit to East Asia is Republic of Korea (South Korea). Modi will reach Seoul on May 18 and will return to his homeland the next day. He will hold bilateral discussions with President Park Geun-hye. PM will also meet with important business leaders in Seoul.
According to officials, the visit is aimed at giving a boost to the East Asia policy, aligning it with Make in India initiatives and bringing momentum to the country's foreign policy in the strategically significant region.
