Ashgabat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with Turkmenistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Rasit Meredow after landing here on Friday evening.
"PM being welcomed on arrival by Turkmenistan Deputy PM and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Rasit Meredow at Ashgabat," tweeted external affairs ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup.
"PM meeting Deputy PM and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Mr. Rasit Meredow at Ashgabat."
Modi was welcomed by children holding bouquets on his arrival at Ashgabat International Airport.
"Hello Turkmenistan. I bring the greetings & goodwill of the people of India. Looking forward to a fruitful visit," Modi tweeted on arrival.
"Young friends welcome PM @narendramodi to Turkmenistan," he said, on being greeted by the children. Turkmenistan is the fourth leg of Modi's Central Asia tour. He is to travel to Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan before returning home on July 13.
He has already visited Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan and also attended the BRICS and SCO summits in Ufa, Russia.
