Pune: BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha has described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a "dashing and dynamic" leader whose hands need to be strengthened, given the current "turmoil" in the country and threat to its security and unity.
"Looking at the present atmosphere in the country wherein security and unity has been threatened, it is really important that we should support PM Modi and strengthen his hands to (help) the nation overcome this turmoil," the Patna Sahib MP said yesterday.
He was addressing a function at the Symbiosis International University here where a panel discussion was organised on his biography "Anything But Khamosh" penned by Bharati Pradhan.
Sinha said he has been supporting Modi throughout. "I referred to him (Modi) (as) dashing, dynamic and now that dynamism of his needs to be supported," Sinha told reporters.
On the ongoing debate over 'intolerance', the actor said he did not support the "award wapasi" and referred to a chapter from his book on how he had "whisked away" son of then Shahi Imam from Mumbai during the communal riots.
Commenting on Hyderabad University student Rohith Vemula's suicide, Sinha said "whatever happened is heartrending and condemnable".
