Bengaluru: Recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to America, US Congress member Tulsi Gabbard on Sunday described him as “man on a mission” and as leader with “plan of action” for India.
“I think that many of the elected leaders who were there (Madison Square Garden) were not quite prepared for the electric energy that was in that room and the excitement, I can guarantee you none of us get welcome like that anywhere we go,” Gabbard said.
Speaking at an event hosted by NASSCOM here, she said “….I think that for the elected officials who were there and even those who didn't go, but heard about it later and wished that they had gone, I think they recognised that Prime Minister Modi has strong vision for where he would like to see India and the opportunity that is there….”
“He is a man on a mission and he has a plan of action – that was made very clear…..,” she said.
The sole Hindu member of the US Congress and a Democrat Representative from Hawaii is currently on visit to India.
Hailing Modi's initiative on International Yoga Day, Gabbard said “….I have been a practitioner of Bhakti Yoga and Karma Yoga, I look forward to working with him to be able to help bring that about, the understanding about the whole practice of Yoga….”
Speaking about her visit to India, she said “….this trip is not only professional but is of spiritual significance for me, as a devotee of Lord Krishna and a follower of Bhagavad Gita, I will be going and spending some time in Vrindavan, and visiting some holy places there.”
“It is a great opportunity to see how we can highlight the opportunities that exist between our two countries, how we can strengthen the partnership and the friendship between United States and India,” she said.
