In a veiled attack on the Nehru-Gandhi family, Prasad said, “You can't flaunt your inheritance and achievements of your forefathers attained 20 to 30 years ago. People are asking questions on what you have to comment on the present.”
Taking a swipe at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, he said his “hidden desire” for the Prime Minister's post will remain and claimed he has been “marginalised” in this election. He said questions are being raised on JD(U)'s poor performance.
Prasad said that his party “salutes” the people of the country who have substantially responded to the need for a stable and effective government.
Expressing satisfaction at the good turnout, he claimed victory for Narendra Modi in Varanasi with “record votes” and the party across the country.
