Mumbai, Nov 26 : Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil and Leader of Opposition Eknath Khadse, who had met 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Kasab in jail, today came under scathing attack by Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, who termed their act as "shameless".
"What was the need for you to shamelessly visit the prison and meet Kasab? Are you going to respect common man's sentiments?" Thackeray said in Sena mouthpiece 'Saamana'.
"Do the lives of common people have no value? This is a filthy development. It is disgusting," the Sena patriarch said.
"We remember 26/11 by lighting a few candles. I hope these candles will enlighten them (Patil and Khadse) too," he said.
The two leaders had visited Kasab in the Arthur Road prison this Tuesday while reviewing security and other arrangements. PTI
