Tiruchirappalli: Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister P Chidambaram on Thursday hit out at the NDA regime for being "anti-people" and vowed his party would rise again under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.
He said party chief Sonia Gandhi and Vice-President Rahul Gandhi followed political decency and maintained silence for one year after NDA assumed office last year.
Speaking at the rally after the address of Rahul Gandhi, he said, "They (Sonia, Rahul) maintained silence so as to give the new government at least one year, in keeping with decorum and political decency."
Quoting a Tamil proverb "Saadhu mirandal kaadu kollathu" (when a person of calm nature gets angered, then nobody can control), he said they have now been angered.
However, "After seeing the anti-people regime at Delhi (Centre), Rahul has been angered and it is visible," Chidambaram said referring to the Rahul's address and his national tour.
He praised Gandhi for his address which he said had vigour, adding, "I assure that Congress will rise again under his continuous leadership."
