New Delhi: Congress today hailed the release of YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy from jail but said no political meaning should be attached to the development.
"Let him enjoy his freedom. Congress is not happy when anyone is in jail. We are a democratic party," party spokesman P C Chacko told reporters.
His statement came close on the heels of BJP's claim that Congress and Jagan Reddy were "walking hand in hand" ahead of the Assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh and the Lok Sabha elections.
Replying to questions, he suggested that no political meaning should be attached to the release as law had taken its own course in the matter.
To Chandrababu Naidu's statement indicating a tie-up between Congress and Jagan, Chacko took a dig at the TDP chief, saying, "First, Naidu should tell what is his nexus. In the morning, he is with Rajnath Singh and in the evening with Prakash Karat. People will be interested in knowing his nexus."
He, however, evaded a query on the possibility of Congress tying up with Jagan. He remarked that elections are far away and there are many things to be decided.
