Chennai: The British government has made it clear that there is no ban as such on issuing visa to Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
"We are not passing judgements on Indian political leaders. We made contact with him in Gujarat," Vince Cable, minister for business, innovation and skills, told reporters here after inaugurating GREAT British Festival.
The festival showcases some of the British companies operating in India and encourage new business to business partnerships, including small and medium enterprises.
According to him, there is no ban on issuing British visa to Modi as far as he knows.
The US has denied visa to Modi for alleged human rights violations during the 2002 riots in Gujarat.
