Nitish was in 'mehfil' enjoying cuisines after Patna serial blasts: Modi

Jagdalpur (Bastar): Escalating his attack on Nitish Kumar, Narendra Modi today raked up the issue of Patna blasts to allege that the Bihar Chief Minister was insensitive and had "arrogantly" refused a proper probe into the attack which he claimed was aimed at him and other BJP leaders.Modi said Kumar was enjoying a "mehfil" (party) when bombs were exploding at his election rally in Patna last week and drew a contrast with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh, saying he had sensitively handled the situation after naxal attack on a Congress rally earlier this year."Such a big thing happened in Patna… He (Kumar) was in a mehfil (bash) in Rajgir and they -- JD(U) leaders -- were enjoying a sumptuous meal. When he was asked about any likely security lapse, he arrogantly dismissed it. There was no mention of any inquiry," the BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate said at an election rally here."Terrorists carried out attack in Patna. One blast after another occurred. There was a conspiracy to blast our dais and to kill BJP leaders," he said.Terming Kumar's attitude as "callous", Modi said there was "no trace" of pain on the Chief Minister's face in the wake of the explosions and that he behaved as if some pleasant thing had happened.The Gujarat Chief Minister alleged that Kumar was doing politics all the time after "stabbing" BJP in the back.Drawing a contrast with Raman Singh, Modi said the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister had felt the pain when a Congress rally was attacked and stopped his Vikas Yatra. Singh had also ordered a judicial probe and went to victims' families to offer his condolences."You see what the CM of Bihar did," the BJP leader said.Modi also hit out at Congress over the issues of price rise and many scams in its rule in Centre and said time had come to bury the vote-bank politics and start the politics of development."People in the past have voted for parties. They have voted for castes. They have voted for religion… Now time has changed. If voting is to take place today, it will be for development," he said.The Gujarat Chief Minister heaped praise on his Chhattisgarh counterpart, saying the state has developed in leaps and bounds since BJP came to power 10 years back.He said that while Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has been saying UPA brought the food security legislation, Chhattisgarh already had been implementing such a scheme.He also mocked at the Congress."Congress gives the slogan of 'Congress ka haath garib ke sath' (Hand of Congress is with poor), but when it comes to power it indulges in sleight of hand. This hand has not left even coal untouched," Modi said.Making fun of UPA, he said people had started keeping onions in lockers like gold due to its rising price.He said Congress has been speaking about tribals, dalits and the poor to get their votes but it was Atal Bihari Vajpayee who felt the need of a separate ministry for the development of tribals while carving out the separate state of Chhattisgarh along with Jharkhand and Uttarakhand.Urging people to vote BJP to power again in the state, he said it has moved far ahead of other two states in development due to the party's 10 year rule.Without naming the state's first CM Ajit Jogi of Congress, he said his three-year rule was a reign of suprression, loot and atrocity, which people will never forget.
